Prostrations to Lord Siva

Siva is the transformative energy of the universe. He is worshipped by those who have an ascetic temperament and are keen on remembering that everything is ever-changing. Siva is the Cosmic Dancer, whose energy breaks up the universe at the end of each age and brings it back to a non-manifested state. He represents the process of the old making way for the new. On a personal level, Siva’s energy destroys our lower nature, making way for positive growth. Siva is the breaker of all limitations. He is also often represented as a yogi in deep meditation, unaffected by the world around Him. The snake that He wears around His neck as an ornament symbolizes the kundalini energy that is fully awakened in Him and over which He has perfect control. Siva is said to be very compassionate, ever ready to help those who tune into Him with respect. If you have reclusive tendencies and are determined to eradicate your negative qualities, or if you are drawn to abstract forms of thought and have a love of solitude and detachment, then you may be attracted to the Siva mantra.
